About Book

Synopsis

Jacob Dean Grein entered the world six weeks early on July 6, 1981. Doctors gave his parents a devastating choice: let their critically ill newborn die, or face a lifetime of uncertainty. Kenneth and Mary Sue Grein chose love.

Born with multiple life-threatening conditions—kidney failure, heart attacks, and profound hearing loss—Jacob wasn’t expected to survive his first week. Instead, he spent 137 days fighting for life in the NICU, beginning an extraordinary journey that would span 37 years and touch hundreds of lives.

This isn’t just Jacob’s story, it’s the story of a family who discovered that their greatest challenges could become their most profound blessings. Through kidney transplants and seizures, heartbreak and healing, the Grein family learned that true strength comes not from  avoiding life’s storms, but from dancing in the rain.

Jacob’s Story challenges everything we think we know about success, purpose, and what makes a life truly meaningful. It’s a testament to the power of unconditional love, the mystery of divine purpose, and the truth that every single life, no matter how brief or challenging, has immeasurable worth.

Prepare to laugh, cry, and ultimately be transformed by the story of a young man who stopped the world from seeing his disabilities and instead showed them his heart.

“We would not be the people that we are today without Jacob. People think that we were here to help him, but he was here to help us.” -Ken Grein
