He was born normal, but after two heart attacks and a kidney transplant, our newborn baby was left deaf and crippled for life. The doctors told us to “let him die.” But instead, we chose to surrender all the unknown results and the uncertainty of life. In return, Jacob never gave up! Instead of his disability stopping him, he stopped the world from seeing his disability.

Jacob was born and because of severe complications, we were told to let Jacob die. We chose to go against expert medical advice and decided that Jacob’s life was worth fighting for. He ended up touching the lives of so many medical personnel … and miracle upon miracle took place.

Jacob starts going to a Rec Center and becomes part of a community. Although he was unable to speak or hear, Jacob used his personality and energy to build relationships and touch people’s lives.

Jacob receives The Inspiration of Work award at his place of employment, and was honored in front of over 800 people. It was a huge recognition and a movie was made of it.

Jacob’s brother starts taking him to his teaching job and Jacob is exposed to a new community of kids, enabling him to build important friendships along the way.

At 37, we weren’t ready to see Jacob go. At his funeral, our family was surprised by over 400 people showing up that we didn’t plan for. They were all touched by Jacob’s spirit, love, and beautiful heart. We knew Jacob was special, but God surprised us this day and showed us that Jacob’s life was truly a life worth living.

Jacob’s life is proof that every life that God gives is worth living. Despite his inability to communicate like others, Jacob used what he had to connect with those around him and touch their lives in a significant way. Please help us tell his story.
